About

Dr. Darst is board certified in dermatology, dermatopathology and family medicine, and leads the team at Darst Dermatology in Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated summa cum laude from DePauw University with a degree in computational mathematics. Medical school was at Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by a three-year family medicine residency. His dermatology residency was at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, where he was chief resident during his third year, and his dermatopathology training took place at the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas.

Before specializing in dermatology, he practiced family medicine in rural Indiana and Indianapolis and then sold that practice. At Indiana University School of Medicine he held the title of Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, teaching residents and medical students, and he was the first Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Dermatology there. His published work examines the platelet activating factor receptor in skin cancer and superantigens in psoriasis, and he created an animal model of allergic contact dermatitis. Later he went back to Dayton as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Wright State University and worked as Associate Laboratory Director at the Dermatopathology Laboratory of Central States. A paper of his appeared in Practical Dermatology in June 2013. He no longer practices family medicine.

At Darst Dermatology he diagnoses and treats medical and cosmetic skin conditions, including chronic, progressive problems such as acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis. He also finds and treats pre-cancerous and cancerous skin growths and carries out surgical skin procedures. Cosmetic services include laser treatments, injectables, chemical peels and vein therapy. The practice calls him an expert in Botox, Dysport and Xeomin and says he helps patients decide between them. According to the practice, he was named one of Charlotte's top doctors six years running. He sits on the board of directors of IDEOM.
