Keith Denkler M.D.

He is a plastic surgeon running a private practice in Marin County that offers aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Serving the San Francisco Bay Area since 1989, he is a clinical professor of plastic surgery at UCSF, teaching residents and taking part in the residency program since 1988. He served as Chief of Medical Staff at Marin General Hospital from 2003 to 2005, and in 2006 was elected President of the Association of Clinical Faculty at UCSF. His training began at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, then continued with a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency in Houston with the Cronin, Bauer, and Biggs group. A hand surgery fellowship followed in San Francisco under Dr. Eugene Kilgore, and he completed a one-year craniofacial surgery fellowship in Paris, France, under Dr. Paul Tessier. His caseload includes cosmetic surgery and reconstructive work after traumatic injuries, revisions and skin cancers. For Dupuytren contracture of the hand he uses multiple approaches, including in-office release under local anesthesia with epinephrine, needle aponeurotomy, and Xiaflex collagenase injection. He sees restorative and cosmetic surgery as closely linked, and restoring a natural look also restores confidence. He appeared on Marin Magazine's yearly 415 Top Doctors list in plastic surgery and is named to Castle Connolly's America's Top Doctors list. His research on the safety of epinephrine with local anesthesia helped lead to wide-awake hand surgery, he was among the first to publish on in-office Dupuytren release under local anesthesia with epinephrine, and medical peers regularly name him among the Bay Area's leading physicians. He belongs to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Medical Association and the Marin Medical Society, and has volunteered at UCSF and the Marin Community Clinic.
