Karen

Karen is a senior stylist at Balance the Salon, where she joined in September 2021. She started a cosmetology apprenticeship at Harlow and Bogart, an early unisex salon in Maryland, and was licensed in cosmetology in 1977. Earlier, at About Faces Day Spa and Salon, she built her skills in color, cutting and styling. She helped found Stars salon, where she served as an educator training new talent in its apprenticeship program, and then spent fourteen years at the Aveda salon Eastbank Hair. She trained at Vidal Sassoon and has taken classes with Sebastian, Graham Webb, Framesi, Gino Stempora and Nick Arrojo. More recently, she attended classes at the Aveda Academy in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Aveda Institute in Washington, D.C.
