Evan B. Shapiro

Evan B. Shapiro directs Women's Health & Wellness, a post he has held since December 2003. He founded the practice after five years as division chief of Ob-Gyn at ProHealth Care Associates. He received his medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo in 1981 and trained in obstetrics and gynecology at Long Island Jewish Hospital from 1981 to 1985, serving a term as chief resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which certified him in 1987 and recertified him in 1997, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In July 1985 he joined an established private Ob-Gyn practice group. Since 1993 he has been a service attending at Long Island Jewish Hospital and a clinical instructor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and since 2001 he has been active staff and assistant attending at North Shore University Hospital. His practice covers medical and surgical obstetrics and gynecology. His work includes non-surgical treatment for uterine fibroids, and he uses ExAblate, an MRI-guided focused ultrasound fibroid treatment that the FDA approved in October 2004. He is certified to perform BOTOX injections, dermal fillers, IPL hair removal, fotofacial treatments and sclerotherapy. He is an Associate of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a member of the Queens Medical Society, Nassau Medical Society, Gynecological Laser Society, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and Gynecologic Surgery Society. He has also served on Long Island Jewish Hospital committees and on an Oxford Health Plans Ob-Gyn expert advisory panel.
