About
Dr. Paul Vitenas is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has practiced privately in Houston, Texas, since 1990 and has more than 35 years of plastic surgery experience. He founded Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery and designed the Houston Surgery Center, where all of his surgeries take place. Past academic posts include Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Tulane Medical Center and Clinical Instructor at Tulane University School of Medicine. At Memorial Southeast Hospital he has held the roles of Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Chief of Surgery Committee, and he has sat on boards and committees for Memorial Hermann Hospital System and Memorial Hermann Healthnet Providers. He holds privileges at several Houston-area facilities, including Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Training began with an M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine, where he completed general surgery and plastic surgery residencies and was administrative chief resident. A B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry also came from Tulane University. Fellowships followed in craniofacial and cosmetic surgery in Paris, France, at Hospital Necker and Clinic Belvedere, and at the University of Miami's Miami Children's and Victoria Hospital. He also completed a craniofacial surgery fellowship under Dr. Paul Tessier and an orthognathic surgery fellowship at the Louisiana State Medical Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Facial rejuvenation and facelifts make up a large part of his work, and when planning a facelift he weighs bone structure, tissue movement and volume loss. Breast augmentation is another focus: he performs more than 500 a year and has performed more than 10,000 breast surgeries and over 25,000 breast procedures overall. Mommy makeovers pair a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and liposuction in one session, with the plan built around each patient's concerns. He performs every injectable treatment himself and treats men for both surgical and non-surgical procedures, adjusting injection technique for men to preserve a natural range of motion and applying filler conservatively. He hosts the video gallery that explains procedures and writes a weekly blog on cosmetic surgery for patient education. Modern Luxury Magazine named him Best Facial Plastic Surgeon in Houston for 2022.
