Dr. Paul Vitenas founded Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery, where he practices as a plastic surgeon, and he designed the Houston Surgery Center, where he carries out all of his surgical procedures. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has more than 35 years in plastic surgery, with a cosmetic private practice since 1990.

He earned his M.D. at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he completed general surgery and plastic surgery residencies and served as administrative chief resident and clinical instructor. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Tulane Medical Center. Further training includes a craniofacial and cosmetic surgery fellowship in Paris at Clinic Belvedere and Hospital Necker, a craniofacial and cosmetic fellowship at the University of Miami, an orthognathic surgery fellowship at Louisiana State Medical Center, and a craniofacial fellowship under Dr. Paul Tessier. He also holds a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry from Tulane.

His practice focuses on facelifts and facial rejuvenation, with planning that takes bone structure, tissue movement and volume loss into account, and on breast augmentation tailored to each patient's aesthetic goals. Mommy makeovers, which combine a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and liposuction in one surgical session, are also part of his work. He treats male patients for facial, body and injectable procedures and performs all injectable treatments himself. His approach is conservative and anatomy-first: for men he adjusts technique to keep a natural range of motion and uses filler sparingly to avoid a puffy look. The aim is for patients to look better without appearing to have had work done. He has developed his own surgical techniques and stresses choosing an accredited surgery center for safety.

The practice describes him as one of Houston's top plastic surgeons and an expert injector. Modern Luxury Magazine voted him Best Facial Plastic Surgeon in Houston for 2022. He has been named a Texas Super Doctor and a Top Doctor on RealSelf, and has received an Angie's List Super Service Award, a CMUS Talk of the Town Customer Satisfaction recognition, Patient's Choice Awards, and a place among America's Most Compassionate Doctors. His work has appeared in medical journals and in Allure, Glamour and Self magazines. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, and holds hospital roles at Memorial Southeast and Memorial Hermann in Houston.
