About
Dr. Parag Gandhi is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained oculofacial and orbital surgeon who founded Maryland Eye & Face. He has practiced in ophthalmology and oculofacial plastic surgery for over 15 years. He earned his medical degree and ophthalmology training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, then completed a fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Before founding the practice, he had a consultative and surgical practice at Duke Eye Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and served as an Assistant Professor at Duke University on the faculty of its School of Medicine.
His focus includes cosmetic eyelid surgery and facial procedures, along with orbital surgery and Mohs reconstruction for medical needs. He also provides skin care and laser treatments for rejuvenation, and he is an expert in skin resurfacing. He works as an eyelid surgeon at the Rosedale practice. He shapes each plan around the patient's cosmetic goals, aiming for subtle changes in upper blepharoplasty and designing combined upper and lower work so the two parts complement each other. For men who are unsure what they need, he recommends a consultation, and he often offers conservative injectables and dermal fillers for a natural result.
He is an invited speaker at national and international conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters. He has been a member of AO Faculty since 2010, instructing and co-chairing numerous courses, and has been AO Online Faculty for virtual courses since 2020. He is an active ASOPRS member who has served on several committees and currently co-chairs its Global Health Committee. He also belongs to the American Society of Laser Medicine & Surgery, was inducted into the American College of Surgeons in October 2018, and is a Fellow (FACS). In 2019 he received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award for years of teaching and work with the society.
He has also taken part in humanitarian work abroad. In August 2019 he traveled to Riobamba, Ecuador with SEE International to perform corrective oculofacial surgeries at the FIBUSPAM Clinic, and in August 2022 he returned as team leader, performing over 30 operations on adults and children. He has continued the Ecuador program through remote telehealth consults with Partners for Andean Community Health, and SEE International has recognized his contributions there. In May 2019 he made his fourth trip to Mongolia since 2015 with The Virtue Foundation, leading the oculoplastics team in Khovd and performing well over 100 operations on eyelid, tear duct, orbital, and cancer-related conditions. He received honorary citizenship of Khovd Province in 2019 for humanitarian contributions.
