About
Dickey founded Hair Rules, a haircare brand in New York. Training came in the late 1980s and early 1990s at Oribe, John Frieda and Louis Licari in New York, followed by an editorial start with the Wall Group, on projects including Italian Vogue, Ellen von Unwerth and COVERGIRL campaigns. Work as an on-set stylist spans commercial television, music and editorial productions, and Dickey has about four decades of experience as a stylist and in beauty. The focus is multi-textural hair across kinky, curly, wavy and straight textures, alongside editorial, commercial and celebrity styling. Named clients include Alicia Keys, Michelle Obama, Kelis, Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker, and Solange and Faye Dunaway have also trusted Dickey's work. Looks have run in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Essence, Glamour, Vibe and Harper's Bazaar. Press features include Vogue, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, Oprah, Essence and Allure, and expert appearances include the Today Show and Oprah Magazine. As a strategic advisor, Dickey works with brands on product innovation, brand strategy and cultural fluency. Dickey wrote Hair Rules!, which was added to the FIDM primary curriculum.
