About
Anthony Dickey founded Hair Rules. He trained at Oribe, John Frieda and Louis Licari in New York City during the late 1980s and early 1990s. During the same period he began an editorial career with the Wall Group, working on campaigns that included Italian Vogue, Ellen von Unwerth and COVERGIRL. He launched the Hair Rules product line in 2007. His focus is multi-textural hair care across kinky, curly, wavy and straight hair. He wrote Hair Rules!, a care guide to kinky, curly and wavy hair, published in 2003, which is used as a textbook in a credited course at FIDM in Los Angeles. He hosts the Ask Dickey video series and the Who's In My Chair? podcast. He has worked as an on-set stylist for commercial television, music and editorial production, and his styles have appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Essence, Glamour, Vibe and Harper's Bazaar. He has styled hair for Michelle Obama, Alicia Keys, Solange, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Kelis and Faye Dunaway, and has appeared as an expert on the Today Show and in Oprah Magazine. He advises brands on product innovation, brand strategy and cultural fluency, and holds that inclusivity can be both functional and profitable for brands.
