About

Chris McClung is a board-certified urologist who directs gender-affirming surgery at Reconstructive Surgical Arts, where his practice is devoted entirely to gender-affirming care and includes penile inversion vaginoplasty. He has been performing gender-affirming surgery since 2017, beginning at Ohio Health in Columbus, and now works in partnership with OhioHealth as a surgeon focused on this care. He opened a private practice dedicated to gender-affirming surgery in 2022. Before specializing, he worked for years as a reconstructive urologist. His residency in urology was at Loyola University under Dr. Robert Flanigan, followed by a trauma and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. After the fellowship he was on the faculty at The Ohio State University for five years as a professor and instructor, and served as the urologist on call for trauma and major injury reconstruction. Over his urology career he treated reconstructive injuries from gunshot wounds, car accidents and radiation therapy, and he has more than 15 years of experience in complex urologic surgery. Earlier, he spent two years in the pharmaceutical industry on the East Coast and received numerous patents for work on new drugs. He holds an MS in organic chemistry from the University of Minnesota and an MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He has additional training in gender affirmation surgery from programs in the United States and abroad.
