Alan Abando, MD

Alan Abando, MD is a board-certified general surgeon who focuses on bariatric surgery. He co-founded Cedar Park Surgeons with Dr. Basa in fall 2007 and practices at B+A Surgeons in the Austin area.

He earned a bachelor's degree in biology, cum laude, from Carleton College and a medical degree from Rush Medical College, where he was recognized by the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. His general surgery residency was at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, affiliated with USC. He then spent two years in a minimally invasive bariatric surgery group at Huntington Memorial, an ASMBS-designated Center of Excellence, and later served as volunteer teaching faculty for the hospital's general surgery residency.

His work covers general surgery, bariatrics, body contouring, facial rejuvenation and aesthetic injectables, including technology-based treatments for body sculpting, skin rejuvenation, anti-aging and enhancement of the face and body. He holds certification from the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is listed as a Texas Monthly Super Doctors Rising Star and completed aesthetics training in 2018 alongside Dr. Basa.
