ZENAROSE was founded in Beacon Hill in 2014 by Marina Melnikova, who came up through the ranks as a stylist in Boston before opening her own salon. The team now covers cutting and styling, color, treatments, smoothing, extensions, makeup, add-on services and bridal work from a single location on River Street.

The salon's best-known service is Air Touch, a European balayage method it offers as a signature technique. It describes itself as a well-kept secret in Boston for Air Touch and luxury hair treatments, and says it is top rated on Google and that its portfolio is award-winning. Layered haircuts are among the most requested services, and haircut packages include a shampoo, conditioner, light scalp massage and classic styling.

Bridal work is offered by inquiry only, on a limited number of weddings each year, and is booked through the on-site Wedding Coordinator. Bridal hair includes soft French twists, braiding and Old Hollywood-inspired waves, and makeup is available in traditional or DINAIR airbrush styles. The salon package for groups of one to five covers customized hair and makeup plus individual lashes in the salon. On-location packages serve parties of six or more, and the premier package for eight or more includes eight to nine hours of preparation and a service credit. The team travels across New England and to destination weddings, including trips to Europe. Brides can also reserve the salon for their wedding day, with breakfast and champagne available on site.

New clients can book online, schedule a consultation online, or use the booking system, which shows real-time availability. Existing clients can book online, email the concierge desk or text for quick questions and same-day changes. Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours ahead; within 24 hours the full charge applies. Online booking also covers group appointments for friends and family, packages and gift cards. The salon may decline day-of service for event hair or makeup booked outside the Bridal Coordinator.

The salon adapts techniques to bring out each client's best and works with hand-selected natural, plant-based products.

The setting is calm and boutique, with dark floors, floral wallpaper, a pressed tin ceiling, Queen Anne chaise lounges and baroque-style mirrors.
