The studio is a private space in suite 8 of the Monarch building, part of the Amor complex on Westpark Drive. The entrance is to the right of a large gold wall, and clients can park in the public garage at 7902 Westpark Dr, which gives two hours free and validates tickets for longer appointments.

About

The studio is run by owner Yoshiko Shimizu, who began cutting hair at the Vidal Sassoon salon at 90 Fifth Avenue in New York and trained at Sassoon in London. She moved into assistant salon management in New York, styled models for New York Fashion Week, and in 2008 took over management of the Vidal Sassoon salon in McLean. After about 30 years with the brand she opened her own studio, and she later stepped back from management to focus on art.

Services are by appointment only. The studio is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm. The owner sets her own schedule, so clients who cannot find a time can contact the studio or the owner's assistant. Booking is available through the studio's Glossgenius profile, where gift cards are also sold. Client reviews on the site describe the space as bright, calm and welcoming.

Haircuts start at $195 and include a consultation, shampoo, conditioner and finish. Cuts are shaped to each client's natural growth pattern and hair texture. Blow-dries start at $115. Full color services are arranged on request by contacting the owner directly. Keratin smoothing treatments are also offered, from a shorter express version to a longer full treatment, along with R+Co and K18 add-ons.
