Ben Jay joined the family business as a teenager, grew it into The Hair Loft as it is today, and later led the move to withlove collective, which rethought the salon experience and extended beyond hair.

The business grew out of The Hair Loft, a family salon started by owner Ben Jay's parents in 1980. Ben Jay joined the family business as a teenager, grew it into The Hair Loft as it is today, and later led the move to withlove collective, which rethought the salon experience and extended beyond hair.

From the start, withlove collective was built to celebrate and support creatives well beyond the salon chair, not only hair stylists. Its work falls into three areas: creating, enjoying and living. In practice that means in-salon services, a boutique of local goods and drinks, and events that support creatives, local businesses and charities. The name was chosen for the passion and care creators put into their work.

Salon services are grouped into Color + Blonding Space, Cut + Style and Texture Space, and each service is booked a la carte. The menu is ranked by stylist experience and demand. Listed prices are starting points and can change with the individual application, so questions about cost can be answered with the stylist during a Style Profile. For clients reworking at-home color or coming from another salon, Corrective Color begins with a $50 Corrective Color Style Profile consultation before any services are booked; if the client books, that fee is applied to the reservation.

To hold a reservation, a credit card is required. Changes need 24 hours notice, same-day cancellations are charged 50 percent of the service, and no-shows are charged in full. Guests are asked to arrive early, and a reservation cannot be guaranteed for arrivals more than 15 minutes late. The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 8, Saturday from 10 to 5, and closed Sunday and Monday.

The Boutique at withlove carries seasonal and weekly arrivals from local businesses and creators, including The Denim Den, the Hey, Man Mens Store section, a gift area and a rotating pop-up space.
