The salon was designed with sustainability and clean beauty in mind, with the aim of being a creative, supportive space for stylists and clients. Hair care is non-toxic and color is low-toxic, ammonia free and PPD free. Synthetic fragrances, aerosols, keratin treatments, perms and harsh-chemical relaxers are not part of the menu.

Stylists set their own hourly rates, and pricing is time-based and gender neutral. The menu has no men's or women's categories, so haircuts and color are offered the same way to everyone. Stylists are W-2 employees who earn commission on services and retail, without restrictive contracts or non-competes. They control their own schedules, services and pricing, and the salon offers mentorship and help building a business. Hiring favors stylists with several years of experience, and there is no apprentice program. Gratuity is not expected but is welcome.

Appointments are booked online only. The salon is on the bottom floor of the MLK Highline building, across from Houndstooth Coffee and next to Sky Market, and clients take the elevator down to street level. Free street parking is nearby, a resident lot sits behind the building, and paid parking is available in the Blockyard garage entered from Alexander Ave. New clients who are unsure what to book can fill out the new client form and be matched with a stylist. Color newcomers should allow an extra 30 minutes at the first visit for the consultation. Same-day openings go through the online waitlist, and the salon texts clients to book. Children aged 10 and up who can sit in the chair without close supervision are welcome, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The salon was built with water and energy savings throughout. Shampoo bowls use Eco Heads that reduce water use by 65 percent, and LED lighting with motion sensors runs through the space. Reusable gloves are used for color application, and towels, glasses and cups are washable. Used foils, color waste, plastic film, hair clippings and aerosol cans go to Green Circle Salons for recycling. The salon says it recovers and recycles 95 percent of its waste through that membership and that it was recognized as a Gold Level Austin Green Business Leader.

Model sessions let newcomers to the salon book work with emerging stylists, with an educator or senior stylist present for guidance, at reduced rates. Model haircuts are a flat $35 and are booked for at least 1.5 hours, and model color is charged at $30 per hour. Models must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian's permission. The usual adjustment policy does not apply to model services. A credit card on file is required to book, and payment in full is due at the visit. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash are accepted. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice; within 24 hours half the session is charged, and same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged in full. Appointments can be changed online up to 48 hours ahead. A small eco fee applies to every appointment, and there are no refunds for services or products, though lightly used product may be exchanged within two weeks.
