WAXBARE

WAXBARE was founded in 2014 by Vanessa Wood, who opened her own salon in Elk Grove that year after previously working for a large waxing chain. In 2016 the company worked with a wax manufacturer to develop its first proprietary formula, Coral.

The business now sells wholesale waxing supplies, mainly to licensed professionals, including hard wax beads, pre and post care products and accessories. Wholesale pricing is set by package size rather than a cart minimum, requires no application or approval, and the price applies at checkout. Buying products does not require a professional license, and the company states its products are cruelty-free and not tested on animals.

Certification classes are held in Elk Grove and are hands-on, using live models supplied by the business; students may bring their own model if they arrange it in advance. Classes run one to three days with four to six hours of instruction each day, and each student receives a Waxbare Student Kit with training products and a take-home gift.

The certification program issues a distinct certificate for each of three specialties: Brazilian, Face and Brow, and Body. Trainees who perform correctly on a live model are granted an official certificate. Those who require further practice may arrange a second evaluation, either in person or by submitting a video, held a few weeks later at most. Once a graduate has earned all three certifications, they can apply for the Trainer Program.

The company says it has more than a decade of experience helping people launch waxing careers, and it describes its products as formulated for consistent melt point, flexibility and clean removal with minimal breakage.

Training is built on three pillars of foundation, technique and confidence, and focuses on the reasons behind each wax application and removal rather than speed alone.
