Wasatch Wigs Beauty Bar

Wasatch Wigs is a private studio for making and maintaining custom hairpieces, run by owner and hairdresser Melanie Stark. The main studio is on the second floor of the Vara Suites in Salt Lake City, open by appointment Tuesday through Saturday. A second location sits inside a beauty bar on South State Street in South Salt Lake, open Wednesday to Friday from 11 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. Bookings are by appointment.

Visits start with a free consultation. First-time clients can book a free 30-minute session to talk through their hair goals, and new wig clients are encouraged to book a free one-hour private consultation. Wig services include a custom sizing fitting that adjusts the cap to the client's measurements, cuts, all-over color for human hair wigs, cleansing and styling with drop-off and pick-up available, and ventilation that adds hand-tied hair to lace wigs in thinning or sparse areas, priced per square inch and taking two to four weeks. Natural hair services cover the client's own hair, and a scalp treatment can be added to any service.

Policies matter here. Clients are asked to give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel, and same-day cancellations are charged 50% of the original service price, added when the client rebooks. Wig returns and exchanges must be requested within three days of receiving the wig, with the wig unworn and in original packaging; returned wigs carry a 20% restocking fee on the original wig price. Sizing, color and cut services are non-refundable, and no wig can be returned or exchanged once it has been customized, including cutting the lace. Services are for the client's own hair unless listed as wig-specific.

The studio aims to offer a safe, supportive setting, with services geared toward healthy hair and the stimulation of natural growth.

Services take place in a private studio rather than a open salon floor.
