Vixen Hair began in 2006 as a freelance business serving print, film, video and event work, founded by owner Danielle Hasan, who has worked in hair since 2004. In 2011 the brand opened as a private salon in Los Altos, in the town's Historic Clock Tower Building. A second location opened in Cameron Park in 2018, inside Halo Salon.

About

Color is a large part of the menu: all-over demi-permanent and permanent color priced by hair length, root touch-ups, base breakers, high shine gloss, and color tone or filler to reduce brassy tones. Lightening includes babylights and babydarks, classic highlights and lowlights, balayage, ombre, balayage ombre and foilyage. Olaplex and Keratin Vital Shot are offered on their own or with color. Keratin Complex smoothing treatments are described by the salon as reducing frizz, helping block humidity and reducing curl, without breaking the hair's bonds so it can be worn wavy or straight.

Hairdreams extensions have been offered since the salon became a partner of the brand in 2006. The line uses 100% real human hair in several methods, including STRANDS, QUIKKIES, SECRETS and MICROLINE toppers, and the salon says its stylists are certified to match and bond extensions. A consultation of up to one hour costs $50 and goes toward the extensions if they are purchased. Extension pricing depends on current length, density and goals, and quotes are given on request.

Visits are by appointment only. A deposit secures the booking, is non-refundable, and is applied to the total on the day; it can be paid by Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, and runs from $25 for haircuts to $100 for extension or corrective work. Color consultations are free. Los Altos is open Monday to Friday 9 AM to 8 PM and Saturday and Sunday 8 AM to 8 PM; Cameron Park is open Monday to Friday 10 AM to 8 PM and closed on weekends. Problems with a service need to be reported within five days so the salon can review and correct them.
