Vive Dermatology is a practice on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn that brings medical, pediatric, cosmetic and surgical dermatology under one roof. The practice sees patients of all ages, from infants and children to adults, and offers virtual visits alongside in-office appointments.
The medical side diagnoses and treats conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, warts, vitiligo, hair loss, skin cancer and nail fungus. The pediatric side covers childhood concerns such as cradle cap, cold sores, hemangiomas, impetigo, eczema and warts.
The cosmetic dermatology side of the practice treats concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, loss of facial volume, sagging skin, age spots, sun damage, melasma, scarring from acne, skin tags, spider veins and thinning hair. Treatments on offer are Botox, fillers, Sculptra, microneedling, PRP, red light therapy, chemical peels, Fraxel laser, sclerotherapy and mole removal.
The surgical side handles benign and malignant lesions, including basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, sebaceous carcinoma, cysts, lipomas, dysplastic nevi and keloids. Mohs micrographic surgery removes the visible growth along with a small margin of tissue, checked under the microscope, and additional thin layers are taken only if abnormal cells remain at the edges. Surgical excision and surgical reconstruction are also offered.
Booking and billing rules matter here. Cancellations or changes need at least 24 business hours' notice, or a $50 fee applies to medical visits and a $150 fee applies to cosmetic, procedural or surgical appointments; no-shows are charged the same as late cancellations. Sunday appointments must be cancelled by noon the previous Friday, and arriving 15 minutes late counts as a missed visit. New patients are asked to complete intake forms before arriving. Patients should verify their insurance coverage and any deductible or co-pay before the appointment, and the practice is in network with most commercial Blue Cross, Cigna and Aetna plans. It is not accepting new Medicare patients at present and does not participate with several plan types, including Medicaid, marketplace plans and United Healthcare. A card must be kept on file for the patient portion of bills, with a 3.5% convenience fee on card payments; patients who decline card authorization may leave a $250 deposit instead.
The practice combines medical, pediatric, cosmetic and surgical dermatology so that a single office handles diagnosis, routine care, aesthetic treatment and skin cancer surgery.
