Unity Studios was founded by Tatiana Cuevas, its owner and head stylist. The studio is set up as a shared space: independent stylists can represent their own brands there, and the owner works alongside them.
The space offers multiple chairs for styling, a separate room set aside for beauty industry professionals, and distinct zones for coloring and hair washing. Hours run Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 3 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 8 pm. The salon is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The hair menu runs from quick trims and bang clean-ups to precision cuts, blowouts, hot tool styling, custom updos and several color services, including face-frame highlights, balayage, and full-color looks. Major color work and extensions begin with a consultation so the color, haircut, styling and upkeep can be planned before the appointment. ITIP extensions are placed strand by strand with small beads and need a refit appointment every four to six weeks.
The salon says its mission includes mentoring young and emerging stylists, giving them education and tools to deliver luxury, inclusive services. Its six-month apprenticeship combines one-on-one salon training, in-person classes, homework assignments and a curriculum built for each apprentice. Apprentices work behind the chair at the Manayunk location on higher-end services. Gift cards and a small range of retail products are also available.
