The salon opened in 2007 as a small storefront in Logan Square with six stylist stations. It later grew into a full-service salon in Avondale, and it is owned and operated by Angela Bolos-Hartman and Amber Murphy-Huels.

Waste reduction is a core part of how the salon runs. It works with Green Circle Salons, which recycles hair clippings, excess color, used metals, PPE waste, paper and plastic, and the salon says this keeps 90% of its waste out of landfills. Salon waste is also composted with Healthy Soil Compost and the Illinois Food Scrap Coalition, and the compost is used in a backyard vegetable garden at Little Sister Avondale. The salon is also listed with Strands for Trans, a directory of discrimination-free salon services.

Visits are relaxed and somewhat unconventional in style, and clients can sit on couches and have a beer or glass of wine during their service. Short hair cuts start at $50, long hair cuts at $60, blowouts at $35 and updos at $65. Extensions begin with a consultation, and single process color starts at $100 per hour, with the final price given at consultation. Final prices vary with hair length, thickness and service complexity. Color services require a minimum $100 deposit to book, and a $5 eco fee is added to every service. Cancellations or reschedules need 48 hours notice, and cancellations with less notice forfeit the full non-refundable deposit. Appointments booked within 48 hours of the service time are final. eGift cards are sold in $10, $20, $25, $50 or custom amounts.

Environmental responsibility runs through the business, with recycling and composting partners that handle most of the salon's waste.
