The clinic was founded in 1981 by Walter Skip Wellman III, a trichologist who refined its formulas over his career. He died in May 2026. The clinic says it has more than 40 years of hands-on scalp care experience and that many clients have been coming for 30 years or more.

A visit begins with a conversation about scalp history, the products someone is currently using, and their hair goals. Clients are asked to bring their current hair and scalp products to the first appointment and to submit a new client form before any consultation. An in-person consultation adds a hands-on scalp exam to that intake. Based on what it finds, the clinic builds a personalized plan, and follow-up visits track scalp changes over time so the plan can be adjusted.

Treatments are sessions at the clinic. A scalp treatment starts with an assessment, followed by deep cleansing, targeted product application and guidance for care at home. Hair loss work combines in-clinic sessions with home care products and, where relevant, nutritional support. Thinning is approached by mapping where it occurs and how it has changed over time. The clinic notes that some conditions respond within a few weeks while others need a full treatment cycle before visible change appears.

Products are still mixed by hand in small batches at the Indianapolis clinic, as they were under the founder. The clinic says persistent or progressive hair loss may need evaluation by a dermatologist or another qualified medical provider, and it presents its work as a complement to that care.

Each visit starts with a hands-on scalp assessment, and the clinic recommends products or treatments only after that, with plans adjusted over follow-up visits.
