TIME.SPACE COLLECTIVE works out of a private studio inside Sola Salon Studios at 177 Freeport Rd in Pittsburgh. Appointment only, the studio aims for unhurried visits with custom-tailored plans rather than rushed ones. According to the salon, it describes itself as neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, anti-racist and sustainable, and it is guided by communication, collaboration and education.

About

Color is a core part of the work. Blonding comes in four tiers, from a Mini Highlight that concentrates lightening around the face or part line, up to a Transformational Highlight for platinum, fantasy shades, or moving from box or solid color to blonde. Single process color covers roots, regrowth or root shadow with a glaze and shine treatment, and dimensional color adds light or depth without going fully blonde. Double process color includes a choice of 4-6 or 6-10 week all-over bleach retouch and a toning gloss or vivid application. Blonding and color packages both include a bond builder and a blowout, and a 30 minute cut can be added to color.

Cutting and styling services begin with a consultation, which is included in every cut and style appointment so the stylist can assess needs and plan the approach. A 30 minute haircut suits clipper cuts, pixie cuts or add-ons to color, and a 60 minute haircut suits shoulder length or longer hair and ends with a blowout or diffusing and iron finish. Styling options include a Signature Blowout, Night Out Styling with iron setting and advanced finishing, and Formal Styling for updos, half-ups and event or bridal work. A Spa Day Upgrade adds an extended scalp massage and a HAIR.REHAB treatment to the KEVIN.MURPHY shampoo. The studio also offers a Cezanne Karatin smoothing treatment described as formaldehyde-free and vegan, lasting several months, and Tape-In and Beaded Sew-In extensions in custom colors using ethically sourced hair, where a consultation sets the method and cost. Clients who are unsure which service to book can request a consultation. Bang trims, neck trims and detailing are available to loyal clients by contacting the salon directly.

Weddings are a specialty. Styling is offered on location at hotels, venues or homes, or in a private suite for up to six people off Route 28. Wedding Trial Hair, engagement photo styling, rehearsal dinner styling, mother of the to-be-wed, flower girl and short hair grooming are all listed, and an On Location Retainer is available at $300. The studio refers clients to outside makeup artists.

Hours are Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sunday through Tuesday. Cancellations need at least 24 hours notice by email, call or text, as social media messages are not accepted; late cancellations carry a fee of $40 per hour of appointment time, and a no-call no-show is charged $100 per hour of the booked appointment. Clients who habitually cancel or reschedule on short notice may be asked to prepay a deposit. Confirmations go out 72 hours ahead and reminders 24 hours ahead. Service adjustments are complimentary within two weeks and prorated after that. Products can be exchanged or refunded within 30 days of purchase. Children are generally limited to attending their own service, and fully private appointments can be arranged by email or text. The salon states it recycles up to 95% of its salon waste through Green Circle Salons and about 200 pounds of beauty waste per year, and empty product packaging can be recycled in-salon for a 10% discount on a new product. It also partners with Strands For Trans, a network of hair, beauty and wellness businesses.
