Timberline is a locally owned hair salon and barbershop on 15th Avenue NW in Ballard. The studio sits in a 1940s building in historic North Ballard, with an industrial Scandinavian look, about 750 square feet of space, tall ceilings and large windows. The salon describes itself as family friendly and welcomes college students, teens, kids and seniors.

Color is a large part of the menu. Lightening options include balayage, foilayage, full and partial foil highlights, bleach and toner, and sun-kissed fringe highlights. Color services also cover chocolate, red and bronde shades, gloss and toning, grey blending, all-over refresh color, root retouches, and a grey color service tailored to each client's hair type.

Cuts are offered for women, men and younger clients. A women's haircut includes warm towels, a vegan hair wash, conditioning and simple blow dry styling, and a complimentary bang trim, facial framing trim or top fringe trim follows within 21 days. The men's cut covers detailed fades, pompadours and medium to longer styles, with a complimentary neck trim within three weeks. Clean-ups at four to six weeks are available. Hair and scalp treatments include a seasonal pre-shampoo detox that removes chlorine, hard minerals, salt and product build-up, a shampoo experience with extended scalp massage, and a Lux Experience that adds a conditioning treatment.

Straightening covers YUKO permanent Japanese straightening, thermal reconditioning, an anti-frizz smoothing treatment, and services for curly regrowth. First-time straightening includes a take-home set of hair care products. Clients are advised to book straightening or curly root services two weeks before color, and straightening and color are not done on the same day. Vegan permanent waves range from beachy waves to small curls.

Online appointments have priority, and walk-ins are welcome when a chair is free. Online booking sends confirmations and automatic reminders and keeps payment on file. Clients who feel unwell or worry about becoming sick are asked to reschedule. Amenities include a hot towel warmer, two backwash shampoo bowls, coffee, tea and sparkling water, WiFi, and a rooftop deck with a view of Seattle and the Olympics. Unlimited residential street parking is available nearby, and the space is wheelchair and ADA accessible, including the restroom.

The salon says it uses vegan, organic or whole products wherever possible, with All-Nutrient color as its main professional color.
