The Wax Scene was founded in 2017 by Mercedes Vidales, who had worked for waxing chains before opening her own studio. She graduated from The Aveda Institute and went straight into waxing afterward, working for two local waxing chains.

Services are grouped into brows, facial waxing, lashes, skin care and waxing. Brow options run from a quick trim for younger clients, including a teen brow for ages 11 to 15, to shaping with wax, tweezing, tinting and a pencil or powder fill with highlight. Body waxing covers everything from small areas such as the nipples and stomach to full legs, full arms, full back and combination packages.

Before a lash lift or tint, eye makeup and contacts should be removed. Dermaplaning clients are asked to avoid chemical exfoliants such as retinol or facial scrubs for three to five days beforehand. A review on the studio's homepage praises the waxing and says the reviewer has been a client for eight or more years.

The studio's hours run Wednesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM, Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. It is closed Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. Cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead are charged 60 percent of the service price, and no-shows are charged 75 percent.
