The Sugar Mama is a skincare studio with a northeast location on NE 32nd Avenue and a southeast location on SE Stark Street in Portland. The salon describes itself as a queer, BIPOC and woman owned and operated business, and it presents its space as welcoming to all genders.

Sugaring is the studio's best-known service. It removes hair with a paste of sugar, water and lemon applied at room temperature, and the salon says it suits sensitive skin because the paste does not adhere to live skin cells. Sugaring uses Tamara's Body Sugaring products. Pricing is the same for all genders, and clients who have a penis or identify outside of female are booked with one of the all-gender sugaring specialists, Case, Katie or Krystal. Hair should be about the length of a grain of rice for sugaring, so longer hair is trimmed first, and the studio advises avoiding heat, friction and fragrance for a day or two afterward.

Facials are built around each client. Custom organic facials come in 30, 60, 75 and 90 minute lengths and use Eminence organic skin care products, and each one includes cleansing, a hot towel, exfoliation, extractions, a hand, foot, shoulder and neck massage, and a customized mask with finishing products. Facials of 60 minutes or longer include light therapy. Other options include a Dermaplane Pro Facial and Peel, a high frequency facial, a microcurrent facial and a back or booty facial. Reiki can be added to a facial as a form of subtle energy work.

Lash and brow services include lash tinting, lash lifts, lash and brow tinting, and classic and hybrid lash extensions. Fills are recommended about every two weeks, and lash extension removal is complimentary for current lash clients within six weeks of their last fill or full set. Bookings can be made by phone, email, text or online, and new clients complete an intake form and hold a credit card to reserve. Cancellations or changes are free with at least 24 hours' notice, while late cancellations and no-call, no-shows are charged in full. Arriving more than 15 minutes late counts as a late cancellation. Both locations have free street parking nearby.

The studio describes its skincare as eco friendly and committed to caring for the environment, using organic products and tailoring facials to each client.
