The Soapbox Salon has been operating in Cincinnati since 2009. Rather than one house style, it is made up of independent stylists, and each one sets their own approach to a client's needs and their own cancellation policy. Prices can differ between stylists based on demand, skill, products used and experience.
Clients book directly with the stylist they choose, by phone, by text, or through that stylist's online booking where it is offered. Appointment requests and cancellations cannot be made by email. Before a first visit, stylists consult with clients, and clients can send photos and inspiration ahead of time. Clients are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, and a complimentary beverage is offered during a visit.
Extensions include Dreamcatchers and Hot Head systems, with pricing set after a consultation. The salon also offers shampoo blowouts, formal styling, conditioning treatments, a smoothing system and facial waxing.
Children are welcome when they have services scheduled; otherwise they should stay home. Travel fees may apply. Parking is metered on the street, in the Parker Flats garage at 4th and Central (coins only), or in a surface lot at the corner of 4th and Plum.
The salon says it actively supports local charities.
The salon is a collective of independent stylists, and each one shapes their own approach around the client in front of them. Consultations come before the first visit so the stylist can learn what the client wants.
