The Salon at The Arboretum was previously called The Salon at The Domain and moved to its current location in January 2022. It was founded by Laura Anderson after she relocated to Texas, and it has been operating for about 14 years. The salon describes itself as a high-end salon in Austin.

Services are grouped into chemical, hair and skin offerings. Color work includes single process tints, partial and full foil highlights, balayage, and single process plus highlights, which is a base color with highlights added and suits clients covering grey who want dimension. Ombre requires a two-step color service. Clients with big color changes, unwanted results from a previous color service, or hair colored at home can book a complimentary color correction consultation. The salon carries a wide range of bright fashion colors, and a consultation is recommended to confirm availability.

The team includes master, senior and assistant-level professionals, and stylist prices vary by experience. Stylists with 2 to 5 years of experience, senior stylists with 6 to 9 years, and master stylists with 10 or more years are priced differently. Prices for some services are starting points, and a plus sign means the final price could be higher for very long or thick hair. Toner or color balance is an added charge. Brazilian Blowout and keratin treatments and hair extensions are priced after a consultation.

Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the salon is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The phone number is 512-832-8000. Blow dry and style is included at no extra charge with haircuts and most color services. Updos do not include a blowout, so clients should arrive with clean, dry hair. Children's haircuts are charged at the adult price.

Booking requires a credit card on file or prepayment in the salon. Cancellations need at least 24 hours notice, and later cancellations are charged a fee. Clients who arrive more than 15 minutes late are treated as no-shows and charged a fee. Hair services have a 7-day return policy, with concerns after that reviewed case by case. Walk-ins are sometimes accepted, but booking ahead is recommended.

The salon runs an apprenticeship program. Apprentices need free models for each skill they learn, and classes are held on Wednesday evenings starting at 5 p.m. The salon promotes from within.
