About

The hotel opened in 1869 and moved to a newer building at its current corner of Union Avenue and 2nd Street in 1925. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and Belz Enterprises has owned it since 1975. The hotel describes itself as a grand hotel of the South.

Feathers Spa serves guests and visitors aged 18 and over. Massage sessions run 30 to 90 minutes and come in several styles: relaxation, prenatal, deep tissue, sports, hot stone, lymph drainage therapy, warm bamboo, and the Reflex Scrub. The facial menu includes the Peabody Customized Signature, Essential Deep Cleaning, Dr. Dennis Gross Vitamin C Collagen, Diamond Microdermabrasion, Aqua Facial, and Gentleman's Facial. A 24 Karat Gold Mask can be added to any facial as an enhancement.

Collagen Induction Therapy, also called microneedling, is offered as a cosmetic procedure. The Vichy Shower Bed combines steam massage, chromo light therapy and aromatherapy in one hydrotherapy session. Body wraps, wax treatments and seasonal spa specials round out the menu, and spa appointments are booked by phone at 901-261-4400.

Beyond the spa, the hotel is known for its ducks. Five resident Mallards march through the lobby daily at 11am and 5pm, led by the Peabody Duckmaster, and the hotel suggests arriving about 30 minutes early. The tradition began in the 1930s, when a general manager and a friend placed ducks in the lobby fountain. Hotel History Tours with the Duckmaster last one hour and cost $15 per person, with children 12 and under free; tickets are bought at the Front Desk.

Other on-site amenities include the Peabody Athletic Club, a pool and a Jacuzzi. The retail shop sells Peabody and Feathers Spa branded items along with Beyond Yoga activewear and Aspen Dream sleepwear. Dining options include Chez Philippe, Capriccio Grill, Peabody Deli & Desserts, Afternoon Tea and Sunday Brunch. Valet parking is available at the front door, and covered self-parking is one block away.

Facials and massages are offered as named treatments, several built around specific product lines.
