The New End has been open since 2018 on East 77th Street. Its two co-founders, Sosuke and Nachi, co-own the salon and cut hair alongside a team of stylists and an assistant. The salon describes its approach as bringing Japanese craftsmanship together with the energy of New York City and personal attention for each client.

A visit usually starts with a conversation about the look a client wants and what suits their hair. Prices depend on hair length and thickness, and haircut pricing varies with the stylist's level. Each visit includes a complimentary head massage.

The salon offers a wide range of services: men's and women's cuts, bangs, barber cuts, blow dries, color from roots and whole-head color to highlights, balayage and ombré, color correction (priced after a consultation), Olaplex, toner, cold, spiral, digital and special perms, Japanese straightening, an organic keratin treatment, deep treatments, head spa services, updos, and cuts and shampoo for children. Japanese straightening takes about three hours, and suitability is discussed based on hair texture, current condition and past chemical treatments. Digital and cold perms take about two to two and a half hours depending on the perm and the hair.

The salon is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Prices are subject to change without notice. Shampoo is not included with kids cuts, toner is not included in the coloring process, and the updo is priced without shampoo.
