The Lounge was co-created by hairstylists Amethyst McDowell and Lizzie Donahue, who set out to build a space where people can arrive as they are. The studio feels warm, welcoming and energetic, and it is located at Image Studios on West Belleview Avenue in Englewood.

Color is the core of the studio. Services range from single-process color and root retouches to blonding, highlighting, balayage, gloss treatments and double-process vivid color. Most color services include a haircut and or a blow dry and style. The studio also offers haircuts in several lengths and styles, clipper and short-hair cuts, bang trims, blowouts, and beaded and tape-in extensions.

A visit usually starts with planning. Hair color consultations are complimentary and about 15 minutes long, and tape-in extension consultations are complimentary and about 30 minutes. The portfolio shows examples of double-process color, partial blonding and tape-in extension work.

The studio is open Monday to Wednesday from 9 AM to 8 PM, Thursday to Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Prices shown reflect card payments, with a small discount for cash. Buy Now, Pay Later is available for in-person bookings from $50 to $4,000 and needs approval before the appointment. Cancellations or changes made 24 or more hours ahead carry no fee, while later changes are charged half the service total and same-day cancellations or no-shows are charged in full. New clients pay a deposit for several services, and future appointments may require prepayment.

The studio describes itself as committed to continued education, thoughtful consultations and intentional, healthy hair, with the aim of being a place where people can show up as they are.
