The Inn dates to 1923 and is one of the original guesthouses of Rancho Santa Fe, when the area was known as La Morada. Architect Lilian Rice designed the Inn and much of the surrounding community, and she created the master plan for Rancho Santa Fe in 1921. The guesthouse was bought and renamed The Inn in 1941. Past guests have included Bing Crosby, Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. The 11-acre property was fully reimagined in early 2023 and reopened in fall 2023, and original wood-beamed ceilings remain in the lobby.

The Inn dates to 1923 and is one of the original guesthouses of Rancho Santa Fe, when the area was known as La Morada. Architect Lilian Rice designed the Inn and much of the surrounding community, and she created the master plan for Rancho Santa Fe in 1921. The guesthouse was bought and renamed The Inn in 1941. Past guests have included Bing Crosby, Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. The 11-acre property was fully reimagined in early 2023 and reopened in fall 2023, and original wood-beamed ceilings remain in the lobby.

Accommodation options are rooms, suites and residences. Rooms have king beds, custom hardwood floors, hand-selected furnishings and Calacatta marble bathrooms with rain showers, and select rooms have private outdoor space. Suites add Frette robes and, in some cases, wood-burning or gas fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, sitting areas and private outdoor space. Residences run up to 2,500 square feet with several bedrooms and bathrooms, a full kitchen and a private backyard, and include complimentary breakfast for two and a welcome cocktail when booked through the Best Available Rate. Because of the property's historic nature, layouts, views and finishes may differ slightly from photos.

At the Inn, the Mila Moursi Spa provides massage in full-service form, with couples sessions and prenatal sessions among the options. Skincare follows European influences, and advanced skin treatments are available as well.

Dining includes Lilian's, which serves updated Coastal California cooking built on local farm, ranch and fishery ingredients; Bing's Bar, a wood-paneled, English pub-style space with California and old world wines, spirits and light bites; and The Cafe, a European-style cafe with an indoor bistro and patio that is partnered with Erewhon for snacks and wellness supplements. In-room dining is also available.

Guests can use the heated saltwater pool and jacuzzi, a 24-hour fitness center with morning yoga and strength training classes, and four pickleball courts. Activities include horseback riding, hiking, biking, tennis and farm tours at Coastal Roots. The lawns and ballrooms host weddings, with garden ceremonies, al fresco receptions and indoor receptions in the library courtyard.

The spa presents each treatment as personalized to the guest. The resort's stated focus is on preserving its historic character while offering vintage-style luxury accommodations.
