The Design Studio is a Laurel salon that focuses on healthy hair and education. Color is its specialty, and the studio works with all hair types, from fine and straight to coily and textured.

Booking is by appointment only, and walk-ins are not accepted. Color services require a consultation first, and all new guests are seen for a consultation on Tuesday through Friday. Color consultations are offered Wednesday through Friday and include reviewing up to three inspiration photos and a patch test.

The menu is a la carte, so a trim is not included with color services and must be booked separately. Online booking asks guests to select every service they want in one appointment. Appointments not cancelled within 24 hours of the start time are charged a cancellation fee.

The salon's services range from color work such as demi glaze, face framing highlights, root touch-ups, partial and full highlights, balayage and double process touch-ups, to cuts, silk presses, natural hair styling, braids, twists, relaxers, perms and treatments. Waxing is offered for the chin, eyebrows and lip.

The studio plans to offer continuing education courses for stylists.

The studio centers on healthy hair and on teaching clients how to care for their hair between visits.
