The Curl Space

The Curl Space was created by owner Ashtyn to help people discover how their curls fit their identity and personal style. The business describes itself as supporting the DFW curl community in embracing natural hair, and as a place where curls are celebrated and nurtured.

The studio is in Suite 220, Room 31 at Cachet Salons and Spa on TX-121 in Lewisville. Clients are asked to come alone; guests can wait in seating outside the suite within the spa. Online booking is open around the clock.

Every service includes a consultation, a cut and styling. Curly Cut + Education is a customized haircut paired with step-by-step teaching shaped around the client's lifestyle, routine and skill level, and it comes with a personalized take-home guide. Curly cuts are recommended every three to six months, and listed prices apply regardless of age, hair length or density. Services are for ages 12 and up.

Clients should shampoo one to two days before a curly cut and arrive with hair fully detangled, dry and worn down, without ponytails, buns, braids, twists or hats. Before the cut, hair can be styled only with lightweight products such as leave-in conditioner, gel or mousse. New clients pay a 50% deposit to book. Cancellations or rescheduling need at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a 50% charge, and no-call, no-show appointments are charged 100% of the scheduled services. There is a 15-minute grace period for lateness. Adjustments are free if requested within two weeks of the service, while adding bangs, cutting two or more inches, or a cut different from the consultation counts as a new service.
