The Beauty Lab

The Beauty Lab is run by Karissa, a licensed esthetician and makeup artist, from a private studio at 4093 Brockton Ave. in Downtown Riverside. The studio is also presented under the name Skin With Karissa.

The core menu is facial work. The Lab Works Custom Facial runs about 1 hour 15 minutes and costs $180, with a $50 non-refundable, non-transferable booking fee and the balance paid in cash on the day. Clients can add BioRePeel for $250, though that version is not open to new clients, and BioRePeel is only offered as an up-charge for clients on an approved regimen in the acne clinic. The studio says this facial can be done during pregnancy.

The acne program is aimed at adults with moderate to severe acne, sensitive or irritation-prone skin, and hormonal acne. It begins with an Acne Onboarding Consult and Session, about 1 hour 30 minutes for $280 with a $75 non-refundable booking fee. That first visit covers a consultation, consent, skin analysis, and a mini service with deep cleansing, extractions if needed, and a chemical exfoliant. Treatments then repeat every two weeks until skin improves, with professional products available only to clients on approved plans. Clients receive a $100 credit toward a personalized skincare regimen. The program requires commitment to the recommended advice and follows a set structure. It is partnered with Face Reality, though treatments are not limited to that line. The program states clients may see clearing without prescription medications in as little as three to six months with commitment.

Brows and lashes are also offered. Brow Sculpt, Lamination and Stain combines a brow wax, lamination and a stain in 45 minutes for $110 with a $40 booking fee. The Korean Lash Lift and Tint takes about an hour and costs $110 with a $40 booking fee. Lash clients are asked to arrive with no eye makeup, lash glue or mascara on. A lip wax can be added to another booking for $15, but it cannot be booked alone.

Makeup work includes bridal makeup, available in the studio or on site, and event makeup for occasions such as proms, galas and photoshoots. No prices are listed for either. On-site makeup is offered for groups of four or more, with travel across Southern California subject to travel fees, and on-location services need at least four clients. Smaller groups are done at the Riverside studio. Makeup inquiries are answered within 24 to 48 hours. Hair services are not provided. Clients are asked to read the booking policy, which the studio says it strictly enforces.

The studio describes its work as focused on results, education and comfort, with each treatment customized around the client's skin health.
