The Beauty Effect

The Beauty Effect is a private studio in West Orange. The studio describes its setting as clean, comfortable and professional, and says its services are results-driven.

Brow services include trimming, waxing and cleanup or shaping, starting at $25. Facial waxing is listed by area, from lip and chin to sideburns, and a Full Face service covers the brows, upper and lower lip, chin, cheeks, sideburns and jawline, with the forehead optional. It takes about 30 minutes and costs $65.

Lash services range from bottom lashes and lash removal with a lash bath to eyelash extensions. Extensions can be done as a fill-in, starting at $70 and taking 90 minutes or more, or as a full set, starting at $135 and taking 135 minutes or more. Looks range from soft and natural to full and dramatic, and the portfolio shows wispy volume, classic, hybrid and up-close sets. A color add-on for lashes is available only with a full set.

A non-refundable deposit secures every appointment and is applied to the service total, and one deposit can be moved once to a new appointment with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations and reschedules need 24 hours' notice; later changes and missed appointments incur a 50% fee of the scheduled service. Clients get a 10-minute grace period, after which a $10 late fee applies, and arrivals more than 15 minutes late are treated as no-shows. Clients running late are asked to call ahead, though the studio may still fit them in the same day.

For brow services, clients are asked to stop retinol, Retin-A, Accutane, AHA/BHA, glycolic, lactic and similar products 15 days beforehand. Lashes that fall out prematurely are fixed free within 48 hours when aftercare is followed; after that, the standard fill or full set applies. Waxing and lash services should be checked before leaving, as all services are final once the appointment ends. Guests and children are not allowed unless they are being serviced and accompanied by a parent or guardian. The remaining balance can be paid by GlossGenius, cash or Zelle. The studio is open Wednesday from 11:30 AM to 5 PM and Friday from 11 AM to 6 PM.
