The Basement Hair Co

The Basement Hair Co is a salon for independent stylists, located in the basement unit at 113 East Patrick Street in Frederick. Each stylist runs their own small business within the space, so clients book directly with the stylist they choose through that stylist's own online booking system rather than through a single salon calendar. Hanna Taylor created the salon and works there as an owner and stylist.

The salon uses color and haircare products that are non-toxic, and it works with Green Circle Salons to keep its salon waste out of landfill. According to the salon, its experience is elevated yet relaxed. A blow dry is among the services offered with color, and a gloss is among the services offered with lightening. Haircuts are gender neutral at all times.

Appointments are required and clients should book ahead. Cancellations, changes and reschedules need 48 hours' notice; shorter notice is subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Clients more than 15 minutes late may not have their appointment held, and a 50% fee may apply if the service cannot be accommodated. No-call no-shows may lose future booking privileges.

Hours are Tuesday 10 to 6, Wednesday 11 to 7, Thursday and Friday 10 to 7, and Saturday 10 to 6, with the salon closed Monday and Sunday. Metered street parking nearby is free after 5 p.m., free parking is along Baker Park about a 15-minute walk away, and the Carroll Creek Parking Garage at 44 E Patrick Street is the closest garage.
