Clients book services that students perform on real clients under the direct supervision of instructors, so a visit is a hands-on training setting.

Program offerings differ by campus. Provo teaches cosmetology, esthetics and hair design. St. George teaches cosmetology, esthetics and nail technician training, with Master Esthetics also offered there, and it is the only location with a nail technician course. Master hair design is offered only in Provo and West Jordan and covers the core training for a barber license along with in-depth hair color education.

Cosmetology is a 1,250-hour program covering cutting, coloring, texturing, advanced styling, wedding hair and braiding, curly hair and perms, fashion colors, extensions, nails, facials and brow work, alongside business and leadership skills. Students receive color and product training from Wella, Redken and Matrix, among other brands, and the school has partnered with Pivot Point for training and tools. Master Esthetics is a 1,200-hour program covering facial treatments, chemical peels, lash and brow work, waxing, laser hair reduction and microneedling. Its esthetics curriculum also includes radio frequency skin tightening, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, hydrodermabrasion, ultrasonic and dermaplaning, plus business topics such as building a clientele and interviewing.

Schedules include full-time day classes, part-time day classes and part-time night school from 5:00 to 10:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Full-time day study runs 33.75 hours a week and part-time schedules run 25 hours a week, with distance education theory making up 20 percent of the weekly schedule. Full-time cosmetology can be finished in as little as 12 months, and night students in as little as 18 months. Externships at high-end salons and spas are offered to students in good standing. Career fairs, salon visits and placement help for graduates, including outside Utah, are also available, though the school says it cannot absolutely guarantee employment.

Tuition is listed at $21,049.38 for cosmetology, including equipment, books and supplies, $17,149.38 for master esthetics and $18,449.38 for master hair design. A non-refundable $100 application fee is due at enrollment and is not included in tuition. Financial aid such as FAFSA, Parent PLUS and private loans is available to those who qualify, and a payment plan requires a $3,000 down payment. Free campus tours are offered at all three campuses as part of enrollment.

The school reports an 89 percent cosmetology graduation rate and an 83 percent cosmetology placement rate, an 85 percent hair design graduation rate and an 87 percent hair design placement rate, and an 82 percent esthetics graduation rate and an 80 percent esthetics placement rate. It describes itself as award-winning and says it has received Modern Salon recognition and that its team and students have been recognized in several hairstyling competitions and publications. The home page shows an Excellent rating from 928 Google reviews.

Students learn through hands-on work in a real-world setting under instructor supervision, and staff say they receive continuing education and training throughout the year.

Each campus has professional equipment and is set up to feel like a high-end salon, and guest artists visit to demonstrate their work.
