TarraDean Studio was established by Master Stylist Tarra Dean, who also heads the team. According to the salon, its colorists train on an ongoing basis and all have been trained in the Matrix program.

Color is the salon's specialty. Shades are custom-blended around each client's lifestyle, skin tone and face shape, and the salon says its color formulas are designed to repair, strengthen and add shine. Balayage is hand-painted, ombre fades from darker roots to lighter ends with no regrowth line, and toning glosses are available to neutralize brassiness. A first consultation is complimentary, and the salon offers consultations before ombre services. If a result is not what a client pictured, the salon says it will recreate the color. Its no-risk guarantee lets a client have a service changed at no cost if the salon is told within one week.

Smoothing and straightening services are priced by hair length in ounces: Brazilian Blowout, Keratin Smoothing and Optismooth. Hair treatments include a five-minute scalp massage, and add-ons include Intense Shine Gloss, Deep Conditioning, Damaged Hair Repair and Scalp Treatment. Tape-in extensions come in 12, 16 and 20 inch lengths, with original, rooted and balayage options. Listed prices are starting costs and can rise with hair length, thickness, curl or the time a style takes. Color correction and relaxers are quoted after a free consultation.

Booking requires a $100 deposit at the time of booking, plus a deposit for appointments over two hours and a major credit card to hold those longer bookings. Appointment requests are not guaranteed; the salon contacts clients to confirm. Cancellation notice is 24 hours for appointments of an hour or less, 48 hours for two hours or more, and 72 hours for three hours or more. Late arrivals may not receive their full service. Hours are Monday 9am to 4pm, Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 8pm, Friday 8am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm, and closed Sunday. Parking includes a small free lot behind the studio on a first come, first serve basis, two-hour metered street parking in front and across the street, and a pay-by-the-hour lot by the tennis courts where some spaces are permit only.

The salon sells professional hair products, and a product purchase can be exchanged for something different if it is not satisfactory after three uses. A product card gives discounts on the second through fourth and later products, and referral savings certificates give 10%, 20% and 50% off a service for the first three referrals, expiring after 90 days. Gift cards are available in the studio or by phone.
