TallGrass opened in 1995 when owner Gail Sharp, who had left a corporate marketing job in Chicago, started the business in Evergreen. The salon says its mission is to awe and inspire, and it works from ten core values it says guide its culture and business. It also runs a philanthropy program that supports local nonprofits, including an annual dog wash for EAPL and a food drive for the Mountain Resource Center.

About

A visit starts at the front desk, which opens at 8:00am on weekdays and 8:30am on weekends. Guests are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their first service, and arriving earlier is allowed during business hours. The facility sits outside cell phone range, so a guest phone is available and Wi-Fi is offered, with the password at the front desk. Guests are offered robes, slippers, Aveda Comforting Tea, cucumber water and snack mix. The space includes a Quiet Room, a Meditation Room, an outdoor patio, steam showers, five massage rooms and a private steam for couples. It is a no-smoking facility.

Spa packages, called escapes, run from about 2 to 5.5 hours and several include lunch. Massages include integrative, Himalayan salt and hydration, and a side-by-side massage for two in the Sage Room Suite. Facials use Eminence Organics products and include a Gua Sha facial with dark green jade stones. Hair services use Aveda full-spectrum color and Aveda plant-derived glossing toners, with cuts, color, balayage and highlights priced by length and fullness. Nail services include Shellac, CND Plexigel and natural nail care, and waxing and eyebrow tinting are also offered.

Children under 12 are not permitted in the spa. Minors aged 12 to 17 receiving spa treatments need a parent or guardian to sign a release form in advance, and massages are performed only for clients aged 16 and up. Appointments need at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel; later changes are charged 50% of the service cost, and no-call or no-show appointments on the day are charged the full cost. A $6.00 facility and environment fee is added to each ticket with services.
