Taboo Hair Care has been a salon since 1986 and is owned by Gill Hodgson. The salon describes itself as a relaxed, friendly favorite among Hollywood professionals and creative clients.

The space is bright and roomy, with modern furnishings. Music comes from the stylists' own playlists, often built around song recommendations from clients. Four to six times a year the salon designs a window poster, titled with a line from a song.

Services cover women's haircuts, men's haircuts, blow-dries, hair color, conditioning and scalp treatments, texture changing, hair dressing and extensions. Hair color pricing, color correction, extensions and bridal packages are all set after a consultation. The salon describes its stylists as highly educated.

Open Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays. Cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead are charged half the service price, and missed appointments are charged in full. Online booking is available only with certain stylists, so clients of others call or email the salon. Clients who say where they parked can have the 3rd Street meter fed, and the Beverly Connection garage across the street is an option.
