Synergy Salon opened in Matthews in 2008 and is located at the northwest corner of Independence and Highway 51. The salon says it has completed about 4,000 color services since opening, and that roughly four in five of its guests come in for color. Color is the core of the business. The salon uses only the Redken color system and follows color with Redken Chemistry Color Extend as a conditioning step. Processing usually runs 30 to 55 minutes depending on the service, and guests can have coffee, tea, wine or cookies while they wait. Clients are asked not to wash their hair the day before a color service.

Beyond color, the menu covers cuts and blow-dry styling, roller sets, keratin smoothing and relaxers, American wave and curl perms, Olaplex and other hair treatments, and hair extensions in bead, feather, combined, half-head, full-head, single-strand and a la carte formats, including SHE by So.CapUSA. Extensions require a consultation and a 50 percent deposit at scheduling. Hair replacement also begins with a consultation. Hair prices depend on length and thickness and are quoted at the consultation, and the salon notes that prices may change. Hair design prices are based on how long the stylist has worked at the salon.

The salon also offers lash extensions, brow lamination, waxing, facials and manicure and pedicure services. Lash services include natural, gorgeous, hot and cute styles, with refills at one to four weeks. Clients who want a more defined brow can choose a single brow lamination or a four-service package.

Booking and policies: a credit card is required to hold every appointment. Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Missed appointments are charged but can be rescheduled within two weeks, and no-shows are charged the full service price to the card on file. Services are guaranteed for two weeks, with changes made at no charge unless they are add-ons or a different style or color than agreed at consultation. Services are not refunded. The salon is open Monday to Friday 9 am to 8 pm and Saturday 9 am to 6 pm, and is open on some Sundays seasonally. The salon also trains stylists and seeks hair models for its training class, with services free to models.

The salon says its aim is a relaxing visit with detailed, professional hair care and products meant to leave hair healthier. It states that all stylists have completed professional training and that it values continuing education to keep its team current.

The salon describes its space as cozy and upscale, with warm colors and a cheerful welcome.
