Surrender Salon opened in 2004 as a mother-and-daughter business, founded by Star and Amber with a focus on natural, sustainable products. The team still builds its work around that starting point, using low-toxic, plant-based products and leaving out harsh chemicals and synthetic additives. Hair color services are ammonia-free and use plant-based formulas.

Haircut and styling services include women's and men's cuts, blow-dry styles and a DevaCurl haircut. Curly cuts are done on dry hair, so clients are asked to arrive with hair dry, detangled and with minimal product. If hair arrives unprepared, a pre-wash is added, and detangling is added when extra time is needed. Existing clients who return within six months of their last cut can book a shorter curl refresh; a curl transformation is also offered for existing clients. A brief consultation is recommended before trying a new style or switching to holistic hair care.

Color work includes base color, highlights, ombre and balayage, and color correction. Ombre, balayage and color correction are priced by the hour and begin with a consultation. Hair and scalp treatments include a detox hair mask, which can be added to any service, plus Olaplex and Oway Herbs & Clay treatments on their own or with a blowout.

Skin services center on custom organic facials. The Star Treatment comes in 60- or 90-minute versions and the 90-minute facial includes Kobido facial massage, red light therapy and a German microcurrent eye and lip treatment. The salon also offers Eminence Organics facials, an Eminence Arctic Berry peel with peptide treatment and a DNA Skin Institute facial. According to the salon, its facials are hypoallergenic and free of gluten, soy and nuts. Facial tools include Kansa wands, gua sha, CryoGlobes, tuning forks, ultrasonic and LED therapy.

Hours are Tuesday to Friday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; the salon is closed Sunday and Monday. Appointments can be booked online, requested through the website, or made by calling 562-426-6500. The salon also sells products online and offers gift certificates.
