Style by Dar is a private studio inside Sola Salon Suites at 1200 S Haven Street, Unit D, Studio 2 in Baltimore. The location sits between Canton and Brewers Hill, and the suite building has plenty of parking. Darlene created the business in 2010 when she became an independent stylist.

Every service starts with an in-depth consultation to talk through beauty needs and plan the look. Color services are formulated after that conversation, using KEVIN.MURPHY Color.me, Wella Koleston Perfect, or Redken Shades EQ. Color appointments include B3 bond builder and a shampoo with scalp massage and a blow dry.

Dimensional lived-in color, highlights, and balayage blend color for a more natural grow-out, and are finished with a gloss and blow dry. Extensions are customized to the desired look and come in beaded flat weft, beaded single strand, and She Hair keratin tip styles. Keratin treatments use Lasio products to reduce frizz and blow dry time. According to the salon, Lasio Color Pro is a color-treated keratin formula that reduces up to 90% of curl and 100% of frizz, lasting up to 3 months, while Lasio Tropic is fume-free and formaldehyde-free and removes 100% of frizz and 20-40% of curl, lasting up to 2 months. Haircuts begin with a shampoo and conditioning scalp massage and finish with a blow dry style.

Booking requires 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Changes made with less notice incur a cancellation fee of 30% of the reserved service, due before a new appointment is set. No-shows and no-calls must pay for the reserved service before rebooking. Hair services are not refunded; small adjustments are made within 2 weeks of the appointment if a client is not satisfied. Retail products may be exchanged but not refunded. Confirmation emails go out 2 to 4 days before each appointment, and questions are answered by email, text, or phone within 24 hours. A referral offer gives a free haircut for sending 3 friends and $20 off the next color service for each new color client referred.
