Tami Root opened her first studio in 2006 and runs Studio Root Skin Care as a one-person business. The studio is at 1312 S Ft Thomas Ave in Fort Thomas, with a parking lot and the entrance at the front of the building. The treatment bed is heated.

Before a first visit there is a phone conversation and intake questions. During a session, skin is analyzed on the treatment table and compared with what the client reported at intake. After the first session the client receives a treatment chart, which is updated seasonally. Peels need several weeks of home care beforehand. Men are welcome as facial clients. Waxing is not offered; brow hair is removed by tweezing and shaving.

The menu runs from single treatments to longer packages. The Root Rendezvous sessions are customized, and The Reveal covers facial hair shaving. Bamboozle includes home care kits with video tutorials, and clients can bring in their own products to build a routine. The studio says its home care products are EWG certified, has used the Vitamin Wash cleanser since 2006, and recommends basalt massage stones and PVA facial sponges for home cleansing.

Reservations can be made online, which is available daily at 1 or 4 p.m., or by text or phone at 859-441-6500. Reservations are limited each week, and appointments are often moved, so last-minute cancellations happen. Same-day openings can be requested by call or text, and a cancellation list is kept. Walk-in sessions are not accepted. Tips are welcome.

The studio describes its Root Rendezvous sessions as focused on esthetics rather than mysticism. Work centers on skin analysis, intake answers and a home care routine the client can keep up.
