The name honors Olive Mae Ballinger, Shyann's great-aunt, who worked as a beautician in Salt Lake City during the 1950s and ran her own business. Shyann's own path into hairstyling began young and became a career, and the studio keeps that family tie in its name.

The studio aims to be a welcoming space for every client and describes itself as a place for self-expression, change and growth. Clients might come for a bold transformation, a subtle refresh or a relaxing visit, and the studio works with each of those goals.

Visits are by reservation only, and the studio is gratuity-free. Pricing is presented as transparent, with the cost of each service listed up front. New color clients book a consultation first to talk through hair history, goals, maintenance and pricing, with time for questions. If they go on to book a color service, the $20 consultation fee is applied toward it.

Cancellations need at least 48 hours' notice. Later cancellations carry a 15% fee charged to the card on file, and no-shows are charged the full service amount. Changes can be requested by message, direct message or text.

Shyann's goal is to draw out the distinctive beauty of each client, using cuts shaped to the individual and color that is either soft and lived-in or bold and vivid.

The studio is designed to feel welcoming and open to self-expression.
