Studio M

Studio M is a private suite inside Premier Salon Suites on the southwest corner of 22 Mile Road and Hayes Road, next to Leo's Coney Island. The business opened in 2016 and is run by its owner, Mandi, with makeup applications by Shelbi Mazur.

Haircuts, color, perms, keratin complex and facial waxing are offered for men, women and children, along with formal styling such as a simple curl and set, up-dos and blowouts. Wedding parties can book hair and makeup at home, at a hotel or at another location they choose. Formal styling for wedding parties starts at $75, and the final cost depends on hair type and style. Makeup services require a clean, moisturized, makeup-free face.

The suite is private, so each client receives one-on-one attention rather than the activity of a typical salon. Clients can relax during appointments, bring their own reading material and wear casual clothing, and magazines are available. The salon aims to keep prices affordable while delivering high-quality service, which it describes as exceptional. Retail hair care is also sold, including a keratin cream, a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner duo, a hydrate and repair mask and a Wet Brush.

Booking and payment: clients can book online or call (586) 738-1700. Cash, check and Venmo are accepted. Wedding morning-of prep requires a $200 non-refundable deposit that holds the date and is not applied to the final bill, and a wedding trial is recommended at least four weeks before the event. Travel beyond a 20-mile radius costs $1 per mile, paid with the deposit. A $25 surcharge applies to anyone arriving with wet hair or hair that is not clean and completely dry. Gratuity is not included in service prices. Cancellations are appreciated at least 24 hours in advance, and missed cancellations lead to a deposit requirement for future appointments.
