A first acne visit takes about 30 minutes. Acne is handled as a medical diagnosis first, with labs when indicated and the skin examined under magnification, and patients are encouraged to come in even when they are actively breaking out. Non-emergency medical procedures usually begin with a consultation to estimate time and verify insurance costs. For cosmetic treatments, the practice typically aims to treat the same day when possible. Patients are asked to arrive with the treated area exposed and little or no makeup, and a friend or family member may come along, though guests may not stay in the exam room during some procedures.
Medical dermatology covers diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions for adults and children, including eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, warts, hair loss and melasma. Biopsies and excisions are done in the office under local anesthesia, and skin cancer screenings are offered for patients of all ages. Cosmetic and aesthetic services include neurotoxin and filler injectables, body treatments, energy-based skin tightening, laser work, and a range of facials and peels.
Insurance can be used for medical visits, including diagnosis and prescriptions, which are filed with most major insurance plans. Patients without insurance, or with a plan the practice does not contract with, can still be seen for medical visits; they receive a cost estimate and pay at the visit. Insurance does not cover skincare or cosmetic consultations. CareCredit and Cherry financing are available, with terms set by those companies. Texting the office is the preferred way to reach the practice.
