Starseed Salon is in a lower-level space in a building on Evergreen Parkway, reached by outside stairs from the parking area in front. The owner found the space for her business and opened the salon there. The name reflects her interest in aliens and the idea of people lifting one another's energy.

The color menu starts with root touch-ups, which apply color to regrowth only and start at $155, and all-over color, a single permanent shade from roots to ends that covers gray, starting at $200. Highlights come as partial highlights, foiled weaves or slices around the top of the head and sides of the face, starting at $225, or full highlights over the whole head including the nape, starting at $275. Gray blending highlights mix highlights and lowlights. Balayage and partial balayage both require a consultation before booking, and balayage with a haircut takes about four hours. Each additional color or lowlight is $48, and extra product beyond the standard amount is $25 per bowl.

A one-hour cut costs $95 and is a customized haircut. It includes a shampoo, a head massage, cutting while the hair is damp, a blow-dry, and finishing work on dry hair. A 45-minute clipper-style cut, with scissors used on top, costs $70. That option is meant for clients a stylist has specifically asked to book it. Every cut includes a blow-dry. Prices go up for dramatic style changes or for very long or thick hair. The salon serves clients with all hair lengths.

Before each visit, clients receive a short form asking about hair preferences, drink choice and the kind of atmosphere they want, including whether they want conversation. Open communication about what the client wants for their hair is central to the salon's approach.

Bookings are made through the Vagaro online system, which requires a credit card and keeps payment methods on file. Cancellations need at least 48 hours' notice, and late cancellations and no-shows are charged 75% of the service value to the card on file. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may shorten the appointment, reschedule it, or count it as a late cancellation. Requests to adjust a service must be made within seven days of the appointment, and corrections within the agreed services are usually free. Very lightly used products may be returned at the next appointment. Children are not allowed during color appointments, but they may join an adult for a haircut if they can sit for about an hour.

Each visit is built around open conversation about what the client wants for their hair, with a pre-visit form that covers preferences and the kind of atmosphere they want.
