Its owner, Sian Cullen, built the salon around a space theme, and the name comes from the sense of openness in the idea of going into orbit.

The salon describes its mission as a gathering place where every form of self-expression is welcome. Its space is bright and colorful, with plenty of natural light and fresh air. Services are grouped into Cuts, Custom Highlights and Tints, and the cut menu includes an All Genders / Pronouns cut and a New Client Cut with Consultation.

Products are chosen for quality and can be bought at the salon or through the partner sites Cult + King and Oha Hairstory. The owner receives a small credit on purchases made through those partner sites. The salon also sells Smart-Arse Gear, a line of tees, sweatshirts, hats, tote bags, mugs and stickers, along with Sputnik gift cards in values from $50 to $400.
